About this pile

For the people whose neck does the work. Organs Optional is the ribcage with the lime heart. I Don't Dance, I Headbang is the sentence with one pink swash. The hoodie is the Cotton Heritage M2580, and it runs small, so size up if you want room to move. In the pit, wear the light tee.

For the people whose neck does the work

I've been on dance floors since the early-'90s warehouse parties, when nothing was official and you found the party through a friend of a friend. The music changed a lot since then. One thing didn't: there's always a group near the speakers who aren't dancing so much as getting hit by the sound and nodding until their neck gives out. This is their pile.

The designs here are the heavy ones. Cracked subwoofers, skeletons that want to be buried in the bass, a ribcage with a lime heart, and the sentence a lot of us say when someone asks why we don't dance: I don't dance, I headbang. Big graphic on the back so the people behind you get the message, a small piece on the chest so your crew can find you.

What to wear in the pit

If you're going to be up front and moving hard, wear the light tee. You will sweat, and a heavy shirt holds it. Tie a hoodie around your waist or check it, because the walk out is a different temperature. I've gone from sweating to freezing at many shows, and the heavy fleece is the fix for the second half. More on that in how to dress for a headbanger show, and bring earplugs (here's why).

The hoodies are Cotton Heritage M2580 fleece pullovers. They run small, so size up if you want room to move or layer.
